Building Design & Construction

The “rehabilitation” of the Mann Library building was a three part project which included the construction of the new addition; the renovation of the original building; and the joining of the two structures. New York State (through the SUNY Construction Fund) provided the funding while both past and present deans of Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Human Ecology provided crucial encouragement. This decade-long construction project owes its success to many professionals, organizations, and individuals. Chief among them is the staff of Mann Library whose vision and creativity made possible the library’s transition into a dynamic 21st century research facility, and whose commitment to outstanding service never wavered—even when working cheek by jowl with the welders, the painters, the tilers, the carpenters, and the electricians!
